What to have ready for the call
It helps to know the approximate basement size, current condition, intended use, whether you want a bathroom or bedroom, and whether you have noticed moisture or water problems. Photos and rough measurements can also make an early project conversation more productive.
Questions worth asking before work begins
Discuss scope, who is responsible for permits, how electrical/plumbing/HVAC work will be coordinated, what is included in the estimate, how change orders are handled, and what needs to be resolved before finishes are installed.
Keep the project grounded in the actual basement
The right plan should account for ceiling height, stairs, windows, support columns, utilities, mechanical equipment, drainage, and access. Basement remodeling is rarely just an upstairs floor plan moved below grade.
